Our Most Recent Project
Saturday the 23rd February 2013 was very hot and the area that we could work in was a premium but despite this, the volunteers willingly worked around each other which created a peaceful atmosphere. It was great to witness how everyone followed instructions and worked very neatly. Rise & Shine EduCare in the Strand received a dynamic facelift.
Toy Story 2012
In conjunction with Game and Heart 104.9FM, an amazing 3164 toys were collected and distributed to Child facilities, which means that many Childrens' lives were touched through this campaign in December 2012.Read more View gallery
Little Star Educare
Over the weekend of the 8th & 9th December 2012 in just 16-hours the Little Star EduCare was transformed to an absolutely beautiful centre for the 34 little children to thrive in. When Paulina, the educator returned on Sunday afternoon at 4pm to see her centre, she broke down in tears.Read more View gallery
Sokwanela Educare
On the morning of Thursday the 25th October the GSK Pharmaceutical team arrived in Philippi ready for a full day's work. The weather was perfect and the staff were jovial and eager to improve this centre so that it can be registered.Read more View gallery
Mandela Day 2012 - Beach cleanup
Even though it was chilly winters day in Cape Town, 300 people came out to join NEWKIDZ in honouring Madiba by doing 67 minutes of cleaning of our beautiful beaches.Read more View gallery

NEWKIDZ was birthed at the extreme makeover of the Masigcine Children's Home in Mfuleni in September 2007. Four years have passed since this amazing makeover and now it was time for a fresh coat of paint and general maintenance. The word "extreme" took on a whole new dimension in Khayelitsha over the weekend of the 29th - 31st July 2011 when what was viewed as the impossible was achieved. 459 volunteers teamed up to be the Army of Angels and filled 796 shifts over the 3-days period.Read more View gallery

Over the weekend of the 6th - 8th May, 195 volunteers from all over Cape Town joined Brights Hardware in celebrating their 40th birthday to uplift Heaven's Shelter House (Mitchells Plain) for abused women and children to a beautiful and welcoming place of safety.Read more View gallery

Over the weekend of the 1st - 3rd April 2011; in under 24-hours and with the help of over 70 volunteers a building that was in serious need of repairs on a wine farm was restored to a beautiful building for the people of this farming community.Read more View gallery

Jive Buildit - Lonwabo Home for children with disabilities
Thandeka Mafila opened her centre in October 2008 after listening to Radio Zibonele. She responded to a plea from a representative from the Khayelitsha Disabled Forum for someone to open a centre for disabled children in the Mfuleni communit.Read more View gallery
MySchool Woolworths - St Georges home for girls
The 40 teenage girls who call St George's Home for Girls their home have been dreaming about a new lick of paint for years. During March 2010 their dreams came true one hundred fold. MySchool and Woolworths sponsored an Extreme Makeover of the entire orphanage.Read more View gallery

NEWKIDZ approached Mr. Eddie Cyster, the director, to offer some help in the area of maintenance at this Home. On the morning of Wednesday the 25th November, employees from the Vodacom call centre rallied together to brighten up the boys wing of the property.Read more View gallery

After postponing the project TWICE because of bad weather, at 8.30 a.m. on the 18th and 19th of November the staff from GSK pharmaceuticals took up their posts armed to the teeth with spades, forks, paint brushes, compacters, grinders, hammers and scrapers.Read more View gallery
